What We Believe Teach and Confess
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Through Scripture, God reveals who He is, His will for the world, and His promise of salvation. The Bible is true and trustworthy, and it is the final authority for what we teach and believe.
God
We believe in one true God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator of all things and continues to care for His creation. He is holy, just, and loving, desiring to bring people into a right relationship with Himself.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. He lived a perfect life, suffered and died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins, and rose bodily from the dead. Through Jesus alone, we have forgiveness, life, and salvation.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit works through God’s Word and Sacraments to create and sustain faith. The Spirit brings people to trust in Christ, strengthens believers in that faith, and keeps them connected to Jesus and His Church.
Sin
We believe that all people are born sinful and fall short of God’s will. This separates us from God and distorts our relationship with Him and with one another. Sin is not only what we do wrong but also our broken condition apart from God. Because of sin, we cannot save ourselves.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift from God, given by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. We are forgiven not because of our works or efforts, but because of what Christ has done for us. This faith brings peace with God and the promise of eternal life.
The Church
We believe the Church is the community of believers gathered by God around His Word and Sacraments. The Church exists not as a human institution, but as God’s people, called to receive His gifts and to share His love and truth with the world.
The Sacraments
We believe that God uses the Sacraments to deliver His grace in a real and personal way. Through visible signs joined to His Word, God gives forgiveness, strengthens faith, and assures us of His promises.
Baptism
We believe that in Baptism, God joins His promise to water, giving forgiveness of sins, new life, and salvation. Baptism is God’s work, not ours, and is a gift meant for all.
The Lord’s Supper
We believe that in the Lord’s Supper, Jesus gives us His true body and blood, together with bread and wine, for the forgiveness of sins. Through this meal, Christ strengthens faith and unites His people in Him.
The Christian Life
We believe that faith in Christ shapes how we live. Christians are called to love and serve their neighbors, not to earn God’s favor, but in thankful response to His grace. God works through ordinary lives and daily vocations to care for His world.
